Lost in Translation

Bullet points.

This could be short or could be long. I don’t know.

1)      Racism. I‘ve seen some discussion on the subject in KCL. All it takes is one human being who is different than another and BOOM you have potential for conflict. Education is the only way to solve racism.

2)      Straight A’s continue for Jovana, our exchange student. The kid should be an engineer. Unfortunately, they have no use for Engineers in her country. Engineers, Physicians and Lawyers are not well paid in Montenegro.

3)      Kelly has been pounded with snow these last couple of weeks. Friday and Saturday they are getting 15-26 inches of snow after having snow all week up in DC. Folks, we are from the beach where the snow never goes…It has officially freaked her out.

4)      Me? Oh I have completely lost my mind. I had two rentals come vacant at the end of January. One is rented already (Wonderful turn around and picked up 45 more bucks a month in rents.) The other? I should have it ready to show in the next two weeks. Those folks were not the cleanest humans on the planet. I will pick up an extra 45.00 bucks in rent there as well. Lots of work. Many long nights!!!

5)      Nurse Ratchet? Um, her mentor and old physician co-worker passed away suddenly about 2 weeks ago. He died of a massive heart attack. They worked together the day before he passed. She has cried everyday since. Not pretty. Actually, I have never seen her depressed. She is CRUSHED.

6)      My brother is working with one of the producers of Lady GaGa on some music tracks. They both went to Berklee together. Frankly, this is his big break. The downside? My brother is a monster in the studio. In fact, he has his own studio in his house. Killer. We are having a divorce party for him on the 8th!!! It is official.

7)      My little sister? I love her. She is just back from a business trip to Atlantic City. She was excited. Me? You can keep Atlantic City. She has already fallen off the wagon on her running and diet.

8)       Hopefully, I can fix my golf cart tonight or tomorrow. I snapped a strut off jumping some dunes awhile back. Were we out of control? Yes. Was it fun? That cart should be outlawed.

9)      Superbowl? I see the Saints winning it unless Peyton Manning gets red hot.

10)  I miss you all very much. I still read you but have not logged on to comment or write. I think that status will be consistent for awhile.

Peace be with you,

Bobby

Absolutely crazy

The human existence is mind boggling isn’t it? We are all very different in so many ways it blows my mind.

Every once in awhile some of the crazy stuff people get into makes me scratch my head. This crazy stuff is all over the net.

Cloth Diapers? What? I suppose it is one thing to use them but to be “Into” it? No chance in hell you could get me near the receptacle much less get “Into” it. Yikes!!! That is nasty.

I’m sure people read all of my stuff and wonder what in the hell I am all about. I REALLY am close to my family.  I don’t know what the hell is wrong with me but 95% of the time I REALLY like being around them.  Add the Beach, Soccer and guitar and you have me covered quickly…

I’m crazy for the beach. I leave my home and vacate at other beaches and it draws blank stares from people. “What?! You live at the beach don’t you?!” Yes, I’m into it however….

Guitar Hero? Have I ever played? No. Why not? Because you dingbat I AM A GUITAR HERO. I would rather play the real thing and not waste my time inside the machine.

Pro wrasslin’! God, there are people who believe its real. Stay away from those folks…

My cousin is really INTO that vegetable oil driven car stuff. I swear I’m not shaking down every restaurant in town to fill up my gas tank.  Out of control. He’ll talk your ears off about it too.

For the most part I love to read about our differences.

I love it when someone is passionate about something (if it makes sense of course).

Keep on being yourselves and I’ll keep on reading.

Just don’t let me catch you down the cloth diaper aisle!!!

Peace be with you,

Bobby

United States Holocaust Memorial Museum

Ronin called me in tears after her visit to the museum yesterday. They got on the DC metro and went to complete an extra credit assignment for their Western Civilization class. As an added bonus Kelly visited with her little Jewish friend Annie.

Both were emotionally destroyed after leaving some 3 hours later….

Many of us go into a museum and peer around for a little while until we get bored and leave. Uh, not this place. The sheer magnitude and terror that permeate the building are unforgettable. Minutes turn to hours as you devour the timeline and the events these people suffered.

How could someone do such a thing?

Where does the hate come from?

I don’t know… I do know that hate is alive and well in the 21st century.

For as long as human beings have differences there will be a small subset who can find fault with these differences.

Stay vigilant.

Peace be with you,

Bobby

Reality

Reality? You can do anything you want to escape reality. It will eventually catch you.

My reality? We are active. I will almost guarantee I can outrun you in the 40 or 50 yard dash fat ass and all.

Unfortunately, I have a heart condition so my long distance times are PATHETIC. Well, in relative terms they are pathetic. Naaaah they are pathetic who am I kidding? This is simply a function of my reality. My 21 year old self would crush me on the soccer field. My 45 year old self can still play the guitar like a motherf**king riot however.

At the ripe old age of 45 I finally got wind last week that my father thinks I am a GD machine and he brags about how tough I am. He never said that in front of me. I doubt he ever will. It would be nice to hear but that is wishful thinking isn’t it?

Convert my heart to normal sinus rhythm, get me off the table and I’m going to work. Seasick? I’ll never ever tell you. Flu? See you at work because I WILL be there. Roofing? Sure, I can do it in 100 degree weather and I will make fun of you the whole time. Play soccer with a broken leg? Yes. Just don’t tell anyone till the season is over…I could never conceptualize losing my spot. How else would I pay for college?

Honestly? I’m not tough. I’m really scared. Scared to miss work; scared to be replaced. Scared to no longer have any use. I come from nothing and I will be damned if I go back. I have no choice but to press on. I’m not the smartest or strongest or fastest anything.

I’m only human. Being human comes with its share of fear and doubt. I suffer like the rest of you in secret. I guess it isn’t so much of a secret here is it? In 3d you would never know I had a care in the world…

Today has been very tough. Lots of bad news all at once. Lets me make this clear. Very clear.

It is important to me that you do well. Your success is vital. Sure you will have setbacks along the way.

Make it happen. Our lives depend on it.

Peace be with you,

Bobby
