Me and my daughter at our last gig.
I have an appointment in Williamsburg this evening. I always love the drive. Williamsburg is such a pretty place (If you know where to look). I get out there about every 2 months.
I have to watch my Brother’s dog (A beagle) Thursday - Saturday night. I don’t HAVE to but I always say yes unless I’m going out of town. If he isn’t careful, I’ll bring her home and keep her.
I have SO MUCH work to finish a vacant rental property. I have to have it ready by mid August. I had to replace drywall in the bedroom, I had to replace 2 windows, 2 window sills, a roof, replace the carpets and kitchen floor covering and paint the entire thing both inside and out (I have already painted the exterior). I should have most of the dirty work completed by this weekend. I may have the paint finished by the middle of next week. Somehow, I suspect I will be replacing a fixture or two as well. This is the last of my houses that required “standardization” since my tenant moved out.
I have a guitar student. Long story short, this young lady was once a soccer player (I coached her a few years ago) but she has torn her ACL twice and her miniscus once. Anyhow, I have inheireted a guitar student. The upside? She has “The gift”. I already have her playing whole songs and doing bar chords in a month and a half. Almost time for scales and theory. If she sticks with it she is going to be REALLY GOOD. Bonus? I don’t charge. Double Bonus? Sometimes lessons last for well over an hour and a half.
Nurse ratchet has been selling old books on Amazon. What a Pain in the neck for small change.
I’m on a diet. No worries. Getting in fighting shape is no problem once I put my mind to it. I should weigh 185. I’m at 200….Easy fix.
I would love to skip out and go surfing or at least ride a boogie board today.
Not going to happen today.
My mind is all over the place.
Peace be with you,
Bobby

Stupidity

My backyard taken June 20th 2010.
I don’t know where this post is headed. I’m sure glad I’m not freezing to death.
It is going to be 102 degrees with very high humidity today. Perhaps I’ll skip running outdoors. The most I can handle is 95 degrees and even that is pushing it.
I did manage to go swimming yesterday evening between 5-7pm. Hot tip. Don’t do it. This is prime time for Sharks. Thank science it was slightly overcast as this makes the dinner bell ring even sooner.
I’m a dumbass without question. DUMB ASS. You know you are having way too much fun when the shore fishermen are reeling in sharks and you continue to swim and or surf. No, they weren’t catching sharks from shore yesterday. All anyone was catching was either Spot or Croaker.
They are building 10 homes (More to come as they develop the streets in phases) in the section behind my house for one of those “Home Fairs” where everyone pays admission to view these bloody places. The fair will happen in October. Believe it or not all of the houses are sold….Anyhow, the road directly behind my house is ALL SAND and is awaiting to be paved. I have been on it several times a week and am here to report that I have only been to the tire shop twice in the last 2 weeks to have roofing nails removed from my FJ and my golf cart tires. GDSOB roofing nails.
I love 4 wheelin’. Really I do. I get a little nervous when someone says “Watch this” however…last time my sister said that, she put my golf cart in a ditch, tore out the front windshield and made all the passengers bang their heads on the roof of the cart. No bueno! Of course there was plenty of spilled beer all over the cart too. Lots of Upi’s too. What are UPI’s you ask? Unidentified Party Injuries
Nothing sucks worse than waiting around to have your tire patched. Don’t even think about having a flat plugged. You’ll spin the plugs right out of your tires. Get it patched. Trust your bartender on this one.
Watch out for the GD Alligators.
Peace be with you,
Bobby

The Brick wall inside of the box

You know exactly what I speak about. Hitting that proverbial brick wall only to find out you have been living in a box for most of your life.
We all do it at some point or another. You know; smacking your ass right into the brick wall of whatever our endeavor may be. I don’t want to live in that box. I see the walls and fences all around me just like all of us do.
Pro Surfer? Not going to happen. I can hang bro but I’m not doing Wamiea in January. No and No thank you. Sunset beach nearly broke me and my daughter into pieces.
Richest guy on the planet? Oh no. I’m a lunchpail guy. Funny, I never dreamed of being rich although I would consider playing a rich guy on television perhaps. I work like a dog to make this world a better place for my wife and daughter.
Anyhow, many of us choose to stay comfortble and live life inside the box. My life falls into that category. My recreational life is all about the sun, sand, surf, family, friends and that is pretty much it. In my spare time you will find me outside either in or by the water.
I must confess I have to think outside of the box. Perhaps I should consider travel to other places people claim to love?
There are many things I haven’t done. *Whew* I better hurry up.
My depression is officially over now that the sun has returned and the temperature is over 85 degrees. Yes, I’m running by the water today. Yes, I’ll be sure to scoop up a handful or two and pour it on my head.
My goal? Hmmm….I have to focus on my friends, family, faith and health. Tis the thread that makes the fabric in all of us.
I have awakened only to wonder where everyone went while I stopped posting.
My door is open and you are always welcome.
Peace be with you,
Bobby

Hmmm let me see, where have I been? I think it safe to say that I have been in a state of purgatory for a little while.
In my little world of work it gets a little bit crazy when you change jobs from one company to the next. You literally resign on the spot, take all of your belongings and walk out the door to begin working for your new company as soon as they legally release you from your old place of employment. In other words, you start work on Friday night and don’t look up until you are finished several weeks later.
You don’t have much time to say goodbye or even think about the relationships you leave behind. That is one part of the job I despise. Unfotunately, they are beginning to lay people off from that office now that I have left. I feel terrible.
Life was so stressful I seriously contemplated suicide. The ONLY think that kept me from dying is the love I have for my daughter and wife. Never underestimate the power of love. In my case it saved my life for I was haunted by a lone gunman who wanted to end everything for about a week.
I am now a Senior Vice President for a new company; Partner of our own Real Estate business and a director for a Charitable Foundation.
I am overwhelmed by the love and support I have received from my friends and family. I would be nothing without them.
For weeks, I thought the light at the end of the tunnel just might be a train. I’m beginning to think it could be sunlight.
Flash Forward….
I am alive. I am relatively well. I turned 46 years old on Saturday. I am running races and exercising like crazy.
I have been following you quietly. There are several of you I love. Some of you don’t know it so I may make it a point to tell you over the next coming days. Please accept it for it is all I have to offer.
Stay tuned.
Peace be with you,
Bobby

I know, I have been taking these crazy long breaks between posts. Heck, I post 2 places. I do make sure I click ads over at Keepconnectedlive just to keep my buddy Matt in business. Great place to post if you have never been. Small community but fantastic members.
I am gearing up for some really big changes in the next couple of weeks. I am looking forward to disclosing these changes to you once they occur; unfortunately I am in a quiet period for the next few weeks.
New Years was absolutely nuts. We had folks over and then we did the mobile party thing on my golf cart. In fact, we blew up so many firecrackers the cops came looking for us.
Factoid.
Life has been absolutely crazy around here.
We did manage to have a bunch of fun snow tubing and skiing the weekend of New Years. The mountain house is quiet and so serene.
I am around and I see you journals. I will comment when time permits. I think I’ll go for a run on the beach. I know, its 28 degrees outside. It is sunny and calm however…..
Peace be with you,
Bobby

Christmas was fantastic. Literally, we didn’t leave the house all day. We just opened the doors and a sea of humanity kept pouring into our home. I wasn’t stressed and never worried about any kind of timeline.
Wonderful!
Saturday we went to a wedding. Kinda weird watching a wedding where both parties have been married to other folks twice before. Me personally? I will only marry once. I married the love of my life and whatever happens is whatever happens. Anyhow, it was lovely as these “society” weddings usually are. *whew*…
Sunday? Busch Gardens baby. I got to ride the Griffon for the first time and liked it so much we rode it twice more. Seriously, Busch Gardens decorated the place and made it absolutely gorgeous. I just had to get a little bit more of the “Christmas Spirit”. I will post pics soon I promise.
This week? Hmmm, finishing up on our year end business. I think we are going to spend the weekend at the mountain house as it appears to be one filled with FRESH SNOW. We should be able to do some skiing and or snow tubing. Our exchange student (Jovana) is not remotely athletic so perhaps we will snow tube it just to make her more comfortable. We will see.
While I see many changes in store for us for 2010; I do not have any personal resolutions. I do have goals. I expect 2010 to be a breakout year for us in a myriad of ways. Getting ready as we speak…
Stay Tuned.
Peace be with you,
Bobby

Things I love

I like - 1) I LOVE the smell of salt in the air. I especially love the way salt collects on our skin while we play at the beach all day.
2) I like running. I literally run wherever my little mind will take me and I rarely run the same path twice. I run for time and heart rate. Its all I have left now that my Soccer days are over as a player.
3) I am a tone freak. Heavy Strings, Tube amps and vintage guitars are a combination made in heaven. I have a sound that is as unique to my guitar playing as it is to the sound of my own voice. My guitars all bear the scars of this discovery process. I am all about Music.
4) Put me in the water. I love to surf, swim, scuba, snorkel…You name it. Swimming in a pool just doesn’t cut it.
5) Love, Love, Love hot sauces!!! D’elidas from Panama is hands down my absolute favorite but I have to import it from Panama myself!!!
6) I have all but quit drinking but I still love the taste of A few libations. My favorite beer is Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA. I was once a big Rum drinker and have a sizable collection. Save yourself some time and trouble and get you a bottle of Santa Teresa 1796 from Venezuela.
7) Musicians, Artists and Athletes - I get on well with folks who have this sort of intellect.
My daughter - Um, the sun rises and sets on that young lady. it is so cool spend time with the new improved version of myself. Lately she has taken to crushing me in the pool and over the road. I only wish I could sing as well as she does and I’m a good singer. She is an absolutely lovely human being.
9) My wife - She is the go to person for anything that is fun in my life. She loves adventure. She is beautiful and absolutely brilliant. I have not met anyone like her before or since. I am a lucky man.
10) For some reason I am great with plants. I view it as a curse actually. While I love plants, I am stretched to my limit. Everywhere I go they seem to follow me.
Certainly this isn’t everything. If you choose to fill your life with love there will be many things about you that will find their way into your very soul.
May the Spirit of Christmas be upon each of you!
Peace,
Bobby

“If you resort to name calling in an argument you automatically lose” - Fijufic
I curse pretty much all the time unless I’m in a heated discussion or argument. For the sake of this journal I also make sure I keep the lingo fairly clean. In 3d its another ball game. I NEVER curse while making an argument or point.
It has been wonderul having my daughter nearby. She is making me run with her this evening and I suspect she wants to go for about an hour. That sounds like 6 or 7 miles. GRRRRR…Tomorrow isn’t much better as I think we are all going to swim laps for an hour or so.
I get the sneaky suspicion that my kid doesn’t want me to keel over anytime soon so we exercise together. Pretty darn crafty that young lady. I think she is just keeping an eye on me.
We all went to dinner yesterday and then to see Avatar in IMAX 3d. Wow! In terms of visual effects it was one of the coolest movies I have ever seen.
Snow? Ha, not us. Everywhere but here folks. We are just under the snow line.
Christmas? I’m ready.
Be careful for what you wish. I once lamented about being on the top 10 list at Jayess for a few years. I eventually got on the list perpetually. The best way to get off that list is to have the website blow up. Now I can write in relative obscurity. This is a wonderful thing.
I look forward to 2010. I have several ventures all coming together at one time. I’m excited and nervous. Here we go!!!
Peace be with you,
Bobby
